Jeanette Milio is a media financier and producer of over 45 television and theatrical projects with a production volume of more than $250 million to date. Her content is successfully distributed by streamers, studios, and networks worldwide including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Discovery, TLC, Disney, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Warner Bros., Paramount Vantage, and others.
She is the CEO of Alliance Cinema, LLC, a film and television production and finance company located in the U.S. and Europe, creating commercially viable content for global distribution on all available platforms. Furthermore, Ms. Milio is the author of the recently released book Entertainment Finance Today, a comprehensive guide to film and television financing, production, and distribution.
Over the course of twenty-five years and working across three continents, Ms. Milio has been involved in the production of over 500 hours of content for film and television, with Academy Award® winning talent in front of and behind the camera.
Born and raised in Germany, Ms. Milio worked with leading German network stations such as RTL Television, ADR, WDR, and PRO SIEBEN/ SAT1 producing non-scripted and scripted content since the late ’80s. Ms. Milio immigrated to the United States in 1999 and has been producing theatrical motion pictures and television content which is successfully distributed by studios, network stations, and streamers in the U.S. and abroad for many years.
Starting in 2002, she worked with German media funds during the “Neuer Markt” area, at which time German equity funds poured billions into Hollywood. Around 2006, Ms. Milio began managing a media fund launched by Far East National Bank, which funded 40 film and television projects. She furthermore handled the U.S. and international sales and distribution of this content as well as the library, which she ended up selling to a private production entity. In 2010, Ms. Milio launched her first media fund which included over 50 investors from Europe and financed theatrical feature films with a production volume of around $60 million.
Among the films, Ms. Milio produced and financed is the feature film The Experiment starring Academy Award winners Adrien Brody and Forrest Whitaker, directed by Paul Scheuring (“Prison Break”). The film was released by Sony Pictures and the story is based on the German Academy-Award-nominated film Das Experiment. The thriller 13 starred Jason Statham, Academy-Award-winner Mickey Rourke, 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson, Alexander Skarsgard, Sam Riley, and David Zayas, and was distributed by Paramount Vantage. The action thriller Dark Tide starring Academy-Award-winner Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez, directed by John Stock well (“Into the Blue”) was released by Lionsgate. The comedy Timeshare starring Timothy Dalton and Nastassia Kinski was released by the Fox Family / ABC Disney and Constantin Film.
Ms. Milio is represented by The Gersh Agency and is a member of the Producer’s Council for The Producers Guild of America and the Cannes Film Festival Producer’s Network.
Ms. Milio enjoys sharing her experience and teaches Entertainment Finance courses for UCLAx’s global Entertainment Studies program. She also teaches seminars and workshops for other educational institutions and film market events including Stage32, Variety Magazine Film Finance Summit, Digital Hollywood, the Cannes Producers Network and Film Finance Summit, NATPE in Miami, the EFM in Berlin, the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival, and others.
Ms. Milio is the recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Instructor Award for her outstanding work with UCLAx and their Fine Arts Department. Jeanette B. Milio holds a bachelor’s degree in Business (Fachhochschule Cologne, Germany) and studied screenplay writing (USC, Los Angeles). She resides in California and Hawaii with her husband and their three children.
